best real estate values in Texas? like price per sq. foot, etc.?
may be moving for work wondering what areas have the best bang for the buck. i am from the north east so it all seems good but curious to know from folks that know the areas…

not looking for a brand new mcmansion.
It depends where in Texas, it an awful big state. Are you looking at DFW, Houston, or other area.
Well, I don’t know much about any area except the Dallas area.
North of Dallas you have areas like Lewisville and Denton were you get good deals.

Why is east texas real estate so cheap?
Yeah i know house went down alot in value, but this is just ridiculious.
$215,000 for a 4 Bed, 3.5 Bath | 2,827 Sq Ft on 0.2 Acres (8,510 Sq Ft Lot) WITH an ingroud pool. Not to mention it’s beautiful.
Just tell me why.

There is a lot of it.
In addition, think “location, location, location.” Imagine the commute time in to Houston or other metropolitan area. The farther out you are, the cheaper the property. You pay for the convenience of living closer to amenities.
I paid more than that for my 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2500 square foot house on a 4000 square foot lot, but I’m in a nice area close to everything.
If you like the area, like the house, and don’t mind the commute (or don’t have to go that far) distance, jump on this.
EDIT: I looked at the listing. That’s far north Houston near the Champions area (not “East Texas”). Lots of homes like that were built for the influx of Compaq employees who settled there in the 90s. Not a bad price, but I don’t find the location that convenient.
SECOND EDIT: Our property taxes are high (not really that bad) but we have NO STATE INCOME TAX. So, the point is moot and the guy who works in a real estate “related” industry is wrong. You pay the government one way or another. After all, our RENTS (a portion goes to pay property tax) are also lower than cities in other parts of the countries. We have space. Texas, and especially Houston are newer cities designed around cars, making it easier to spread out.
